The Second Worst Time Of Year For Candida Sufferers...

Typically I list the summer as being the worst
time of year for those suffering with candida yeast
related issues.

The heat & humidity causes fungus to grow like
there's no tomorrow!

Well almost 6 months later and here we are talking
about the 2nd worst time of the year for candida
yeast sufferers...

And obviously it's not the heat & humidity that's
suddenly going to cause our stomachs to get a
little bloated and our intestinal tract to become
"gassy".

Nor is it the weather that will cause that
irritating itch to start-up again. Or maybe our
sinuses start getting a little more plugged.

Nope-- it won't be the heat of the sun doing it.

It will be the avalanche of carbohydrates we're
all exposed to during the holidays--

...The cookies
...The candies
...The cakes & pies

Not too mention the carb filled drinks like
soda pop, beer and wine.

It's just one carb after another during this
time of year.

And while I won't preach to you about not caving
into those carb cravings, I will ask that you
try to be a little restrained-- if you can.

If you find yourself "slipping" a little over
the next month, just increase your supplement
intake a little to compensate.

Just like Sgt. Esterhaus use to say at the beginning
of each episode of "Hill Street Blues"-- Let's be
careful out there! OK?

Just remember too many carbs in 2010 can lead to
too much fungus in 2011. :)

There's a fungus among us!

This time of year it's not just ghosts & goblins
that we should be scared of... But FUNGUS!

That's what every candida yeast sufferer has too
to fear!

And if that isn't scary enough for you then consider
this...

Do you know what a "fungus" actually is?

Many people confuse fungus with bacteria. But they
are totally different organisms. Candida yeast is
a fungus. Threelac is a probiotic, or a good bacteria.

It's not that all fungus are bad, but depending
upon the type of fungus, it can nurture life or destroy it.

It's fungus that ferments grapes into wine, but it's also
fungus that ferments the sugars we put into our bodies
into toxins that cause us a potential laundry list of
health issues-- health issues that some of us have
suffered with for years if not decades.

Most think fungi are plants, in actuality fungi are
neither plants nor animals but make up their own kingdom.

They can't create their own food, and that's why candida
yeast relies on the food we take into our bodies...

The fungus expands by releasing spores, which soon
also have the ability to absorb food and excrete toxic
waste within our bodies.

Here's an odd twist of fate for you--It's fungus that
is used to create antibiotics in order to fight bad
bacteria, and now here we use good bacteria in order to
fight the bad candida yeast fungus.

Finally, what causes many of us to just throw up our
hands in frustration is that while the medical community
seems to have a great understanding of what damage bad
bacteria can do to ones health, very few seem to grasp
what damage bad fungus can do.

What really causes candida yeast problems– It isn't the candida...

Many that suffer with candida yeast problems automatically assume it's the candida, i.e. fungus, that is directly causing all their issues.

Well... right & wrong.

You know how yeast turns grapes into wine?

The yeast eats the sugar from the grape and poops out alcohol.

It's nothing more complicated than that.  And unfortunately for us, it's that simple within our bodies also.

So what do you think happens when we fill our intestinal tracts with loads of carbohydrates, i.e. sugars?

The answer is that there's a lot of good "eating" going on in our guts.   And there are a lot of toxins flowing throughout our bodies contributing to a variety of bad issues.

The next question you should have is "How do they do that?"

The answer is through allergic reactions with the toxins.  You see there are a variety of toxins that are released... And I mean a variety.  And the body can achieve a variety of allergic reactions due to these toxins.  That's why you could have 12 different people in a room and each suffers with a different problem, YET they are all affected by candida yeast.

Amazing isn't it?

A list of potential candida yeast issues...

After working with over 27,000 people I've accumulated a pretty extensive list of potential issues as reported to me by candida yeast sufferers over the years.  He we go...

Vaginal yeast infection (obviously this is a female thing BUT keep in mind that not all female candida yeast sufferers deal with vaginal yeast infections– I would say it's around 30% that report a vaginal yeast infection as one of their issues)

Oral thrush, or a white coating on the tongue or inside the mouth

Very dry or cracked skin around the mouth.  Many times very red and sore.

Red sores on the tongue or inside the mouth

Sinus problems

Ringing in the ears

Itchy ears

Losing hair or hair thinning

Recurrent ear infections

Red skin on the face

Dry, flaky skin on parts of the body

Adult acne

Hives

Itchy skin on just about any part of the body

Jock itch

Anal itch

Gums and or teeth constantly hurting

Breathing problems

Joint & muscle pain

Foggy thinking

Chronic fatigue

Athlete's foot

Nail fungus

Acid reflux

Constipation

Diareha

Anxiety

Quite the list huh?

And the funny thing is that this candida yeast stuff seems to touch people physically, neurologically and emotionally.   I guess it's an equal opportunity health problem.

If Candida Yeast has made your life miserable then you need to hear my story...

It was about 6 years ago...

I had struggled for years with gas, bloating and irregularity.  One day I'd go 3 or 4 times.  Then not go for another 3-4 days.

I suffered with jock itch... Boy did I suffer with jock itch.  Every friggin night, I'd just about scratch myself bloody (and sometimes I was bloody).  The itching would get worse during the time of the year when it was more hot and humid.  I tried a variety of salves, creams and ointments.  None was particularly effective.

I also dealt periodically with dead skin around the tips of my fingers.  From time to time a big crack would appear near where the sides of the nail meet the skin.  And these would hurt!  They wouldn't heal on their own unless I used "liquid band-aid" to cover the crack.

Then there were the carb cravings– Oh yeah, big-time carb cravings.  There were times when I would go through a cake or a package of candy bars in one sitting.

Now these aren't the same issues everyone reports.  That's the real puzzle of all this candida stuff.  I've learned since then that the fungus can affect a myriad of issues from head to toe.  Some physical, some neurological.  I'll go into more of this in a future blog, but right now let me get on with my story.

Now some of these issues I had been dealing with on and off for years... If not decades.  i would periodically go to the physician for one of the problems.  I'd get the latest prescription drug, try it for a month, not get much in the way of relief and then give up on physicians until I got majorly frustrated with my issues again.

If I had just known then what I know now.  But I guess that's the way it is with this candida yeast stuff.  Up until a few years ago, we didn't have a way of putting the "pieces" together and figuring out what was behind all of it.  Nope.  What we did was treat each of the individual issues as its own little problem.  Never thinking that all these issues could potentially be connected.

Next time I'll talk about the big turning point in my battle against candida yeast.
